X-Men: Apocalypse

Taken on its own, Apocalypse is a pretty fun movie, but I’m growing tired of seeing Magneto stray to the side of evil only to redeem himself every single movie. Apocalypse himself is decent (though his horseman are pretty weak), and at the end of the day even the more mediocre movies in this franchise are worth the price of admission.

    1. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, and I’ll definitely watch it again when it’s out on Blu Ray. It’s just that I thought it was “good,” while First Class and DofP were “fantastic.” If they replaced angel with someone a little more menacing and didn’t repeat Magneto’s exact same character arc from the last few movies I think it would have been as great as I think it could have been.

      1. I find that Magneto’s character arc actually went the opposite of the last two movies—from lost to good-hearted instead of from good-hearted to lost. What I don’t like here is how easily he’s let off the hook; considering all the wrong Magneto’s done over the trilogy, Charles is all like, “Hey, old buddy! Why don’t you join us?” like nothing happened.
