The Jungle Book (2016)

While the CG animals and landscapes are certainly worthy of praise, the movie’s voice acting and sound elevate what could have been a forgettable nostalgia cash grab into an engaging, charming,¬†adventure that stands well on its own while honoring the classic movie and novel that predate it. King Louie and Baloo were the stand-out characters for me, infusing the story with equal parts danger, awe, and grandeur, while the young Neel Sethi does a darned good job as the only physical actor on screen.
